Dad arrested for leaving sons home alone (Brunswick, Ohio)

UNNAMED DAD is not the most dastardly of dads. But he's one of these guys who managed to get visitation--perhaps to reduce his child support--when he really wasn't interested in spending his weekend with his sons. Do kids really need this?

CHILD ENDANGERING: A 44-year-old Sanford Drive resident was arrested on charges of child endangering after he left his two sons, ages 10 and 11, home alone without access to a telephone.
Police say they were contacted by the boys' aunt who asked them to check on the boys after she learned their father may have left the boys, one of whom is a special needs child, home alone.
When police arrived at the house around 10:17 p.m., they spotted one of the boys in the window, however, the boys refused to answer a door.

A short while later, police learned the boys fled the residence on foot and ran to their mother's house more than a mile away. Their mother contacted police and told them that the boys had been left at home during a weekend visit with their father and were afraid to answer the door because they thought police were going to arrest their father for leaving them.

A short time later, they did. The children remained in the custody of their mother.
