FRESNO, Calif. -- The trial of two Fresno gang members is beginning with the testimony of an eight-year-old boy who told jurors his dad forced him to get a gang tattoo.

The child showed Fresno County Superior Court jurors the quarter-sized tattoo of a dog paw on his right hip - the symbol of the Bulldogs street gang.

The boy's father, 27-year-old Enrique Gonzalez, and his accomplice, 22-year-old Travis Gorman, are on trial on charges of willful cruelty to a child and aggravated mayhem. They face life in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors say Gonzalez held his son down while Gorman applied the tattoo. Defense attorneys say the child asked for the tattoo so he could be like his dad.

The boy in undergoing a procedure to remove the tattoo.

The trial should take about two weeks.
