Dad faces charges after toddler son found home alone (Nelson, Australia)

UNNAMED DAD faces charges after his 20-month-old son was found home alone, while Daddy was out getting snockered at the local pub. The child is now being cared for "by other family members."

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT: Is the child being cared for by his mother? If not, why not? And why was this child alone at Daddy's house? Did Daddy have custody, visitation? What? It would be so nice if the media would answer these questions.

A man is facing charges after police found a toddler home alone in Nelson last night.

The 36-year-old man was found drinking in a Nelson bar.

Sergeant David Lauer said police carried out enquiries at a Nelson address following an earlier domestic incident and found the 20-month-old child alone, asleep in the house.

The father was found a short time later in a city bar.

Mr Lauer said the man was now facing charges of abandoning a child and common assault and would appear in Nelson District Court today.

The child was being cared for by other family members and CYFS had been notified.

"Police are appalled by this person's lack of basic parenting skills and concern for the welfare of his young child," Mr Lauer said
