Dad gets 22 years for killing 10-week-old son; had been primary caretaker for less than 1 day (Whatcom County, Washington)

We first reported on this case right after it happened back in August 2009. Notice that daddy JON FRAZIER became the primary caretaker of this baby after the mom was sent to prison for a property crime (robbery). Well, Daddy didn't even hit the 24-hour mark before he beat the kid to death. But of course, we had to cook up lots of Daddy Drama about kidnappers and the like before the truth came out.

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. -- A Custer-area father who killed his infant son has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Jon Frazier, 43, pleaded guilty to beating his 10-week-old son to death in August 2009.

Frazier's wife had turned herself in to the Whatcom County Jail to serve a sentence for robbery, and the next day Frazier told police that someone had taken the child from his mobile home during the night.

Police conducted a massive search and found the baby's body two days later.

The Bellingham Herald reports that judge Ira Uhrig gave Frazier the maximum sentence for 2nd degree murder.
