SAN BERNARDINO (KTLA) -- A 35-year old man has been arrested for murder and torture after allegedly killing his 16-year old son and wounding five other family members.

Deputies responded to the home in the 6700 block Merito Avenue at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor reporting a man screaming for help inside the home.

When deputies arrived, they found the body of a 16-year old boy.

Two other boys and two girls ages 7 to 15 were also found wounded inside the home.

Ian Roderiquez was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and torture, said Cindy Bachman, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

His wife, 35-year-old Sujal, was also critically injured had to undergo surgery Wednesday, police said.

Investigators say the attack was so savage and bloody that it's still unclear what weapon, or weapons, were used.

The teenage boy killed in the attack has been identified as Richard Roderiquez.

The wounded children are Jacob, 13; Gabriel, 12; Daniella, 10; and Yasmine, 8. They are all expected to survive.

According to neighbors, the father was yelling and cursing in the street.

One neighbor said that he yelled at the kids frequently.

"He was a drinker, so he would get in his moods... everybody knew him always yelling at the kids and stuff," Sofia Symeou told KTLA.

Symeou also said the kids showed signs of desperation.

"They would go around asking for food from the neighbors, or money, and whenever we gave them something it was like Christmas to them."

It's expected the children will be placed in protective custody once they are released from the hospital.
