Dad murders mom, 7-year-old daughter; two other children seriously injured (Leicestershire, England)

Even in Merry Olde England, we must quote the Clueless Neighbors, the folks who assumed this was a "normal family." Even though they admit they hardly ever saw Dad. So how did they know he was "normal"?

Dad is identified as TOBY DAY.

Two teenagers are being treated for serious injuries after their father killed their mother and sister before taking his own life.

Toby Day, a former police inspector, killed his wife Samantha and his seven-year-old daughter Genevieve, and attacked his two other children Kimberly and Adam on Thursday.

The incident, in a quiet residential street in Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, left neighbours horrified.

"Its usually a quiet street," she said. "I've never seen anything like this," said Samantha Whitfield, who has lived on Robin Crescent for around 15 years.

"They were a normal family from what I saw. I didn't see him too much."

Police said they received a report at around 4.23pm that a 15-year-old girl, believed to be Kimberly, had been injured in Melton Mowbray.

She was taken to hospital and during the investigation officers forced their way into the family's house, where they discovered two children and two adults with injuries.

The force later confirmed that a man, a woman and a child had died, and two other children were being treated at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries.

Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Hough, who is leading the investigation said: “Firstly I would like to offer condolences to the families and friends of those involved at this difficult time.

“Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime team, including officers from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to these tragic deaths. I would ask anyone who spoke to Mr Day yesterday who hasn’t yet spoken with police to contact us."
