HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A father is in jail after police say he tried to suffocate his infant daughter with a pillow.

Huntington Police arrested 40-year-old Larry Thomas late Monday night.

Police say the child was 11-months-old and that child’s mother caught Thomas with a pillow.

They say the girl’s mother then struggled with Thomas in an attempt to stop him. Thomas then struck her with his fist.

Police arrested Thomas outside the house in the 2100-block of 10th Avenue carrying a knife under his shirt.

Thomas is also wanted out of Boyd County on a drug charge.

He has been charged with attempted murder, domestic battery, carrying a concealed weapon and being a fugitive from justice.

Thomas was arraigned Tuesday morning in Cabell County Magistrate court.

He is being held in the Western Regional Jail.
