Dad accused of killing 6-month-old son before putting baby's body in fridge NOT charged with murder, just "serious bodily injury to a child" (Houston, Texas)

Even a so-called "tough on crime" state like Texas is amazingly lenient when it comes to killer dads. Had this dude killed a white man, he'd be getting the chair. But since it's "just" a black infant, the authorities really don't care. It's pro-daddy politics combined with racism. A truly disgusting combination.

They can't prove the baby's head injuries were "intentional"? My @$$. This father has a HISTORY of attempted murder, domestic assault, and drug abuse. What is there not to get here?

And you know what? Maybe we need to start providing adequate social services again. So moms don't have to stay with pieces of sh** like this idiot. Or leave their babies with them because they have no real choice in the matter.

HOUSTON - A Houston man accused of killing his 6-month-old son before putting the baby's body in his refrigerator was was not charged with murder.

Joseph Mouton, 57, was charged with serious bodily injury to a child Friday.

Investigators said Mouton was high when he killed his baby, Joseph. And once he came down from the high, Mouton wrapped the baby in a blanket and put the boy in the freezer in his apartment in the 7100 block of Beechnut Street.

He made a suicidal call to police on Wednesday at 8 a.m. He admitted to killing his child as he was being loaded onto a stretcher, officers said.

Investigators said despite Mouton's confession, he could not be charged with murder because the medical examiner could not prove that the trauma to the baby's head was intentional.

Mouton was still in the hospital Saturday with internal bleeding in his stomach after he tried to overdose on pills, officials said. Sources said Moulton is on suicide watch and said he wants to die and is having nightmares of his son.

Moulton's bail was set at $100,000.

Mouton, a veteran, has been in trouble with the law in the past. In 1988, he served eight years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder charges. In 2004, he served time again for drugs.

Then, in the fall, around the time the baby's mother was about to give birth, he was convicted and served 30 days behind bars for beating her up.

The baby's mother moved to Clear Lake to stay with family after breaking up with Mouton. She told police that she didn't have any money to care for the boy, so she left him with his dad.
