Drunk dad arrested after 5-year-old son found lost, hungry (Murrells Inlet, South Carolina)

Notice that the little boy is now in CPS care, and that there is no mention of a mother in the home.

Is drunk dad GARY DRAKE a single father?

MURRELLS INLET, SC - A 5-year-old boy was found lost and hungry in a Murrells Inlet neighborhood last week.

According to a Georgetown County Sheriff's Department incident report, the boy, who appeared to be autistic, was found by a woman in her yard on Feb. 28. near the 600 block of Bill Street.

The woman called 911 when the child said he did not know where he lived.

The boy told police he didn't want to go home because he didn't want to be hit and was hungry, the report said.

When deputies located the boy's home, officers found the child's father, 46-year-old Gary Drake, intoxicated on the back porch, according to the report.

The report said Drake nearly fell off the porch several times while the deputy was speaking to him.

Drake told the deputies he thought his son was in his bedroom and didn't realize the child had left the home.

The report said the boy had been gone from his house for nearly an hour. The boy was placed in DSS custody.

Drake was charged with unlawful neglect of a child and is currently being held under a $10,000 bond at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
