Dad charged in abuse of 2-month-old son (Youngstown, Ohio)

It's not altogether clear what this father (allegedly) did to his infant son. But the physical evidence suggests it was pretty gruesome. Yet dad ROBERT PURFEY JR. is only being charged with felony child endangering? Typical daddy coddling.

And check out this guy's criminal history. Why he would be allowed any infant is a real mystery.

Where is the mother of this baby? Notice that there is absolutely no mention of a mother in this home. Was there one?

Father charged in possible abuse case

Struthers police are investigating a possible child abuse case involving a 2-month-old boy.

Reports say officers found a bath towel stained with blood, a pair of scissors stained with blood and a baby wipe that was lodged in the baby’s throat at 41 Park Ave.

The boy’s father, Robert Purfey Jr., 32, was charged Monday with second-degree felony child endangering, a charge that carries an eight-year maximum penalty. He is being held in the Mahoning County Jail on $150,000 bond and is scheduled for a July 15 preliminary hearing. The boy was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital on Friday. Nurses there reported the possible abuse.

Struthers police have planned a news conference to discuss in the investigation for 3:30 p.m.

Purfey, according to a search of court records, was convicted of possessing dangerous drugs and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in in 2011 and disorderly conduct, a charge amended from possessing drug paraphernalia, in 2009.

He also pleaded guilty in 2011 to assault and criminal damaging in Youngstown Municipal Court.
