Dad not sure he wants to confess in beating death of 1-year-old son (Utica, New York)

We've posted on IAN GULBIN before. I can't say we like him any better. Another worthless piece of crap who was pressured into childcare while Mom worked to support the family.

UTICA

Over the next two weeks, Ian Gulbin is expected to consider whether he wants to admit beating his 1-year-old son to death last November.

During a brief appearance Monday in Oneida County Court, Gulbin’s public defender, Kurt Schultz, asked for more time until Monday, March 10, to make a final report on if Gulbin will accept a plea offer or take his murder case to trial.

In the meantime, Gulbin will be shown all the evidence surrounding the Nov. 18 death of young Brayden, who police have said is Gulbin’s son.

The terms of the proposed plea offer have not been made public.

Gulbin, 31, of Sherburne, is charged with second-degree murder, as well as first-degree and second-degree manslaughter.

Investigators believe Gulbin “slammed” Brayden against a hard object inside their home at 531 Doe Road in Bridgewater. Then instead of calling 911, Gulbin allegedly left the severely injured boy in his bedroom, where he died and was discovered by the boy’s mother when she returned from work the next morning.

No reason has been given for why Brayden might have been beaten, and it is unclear whether any psychiatric factors might have played a role in the assault.
