Police: Father fatally shoots teen son, himself

UPDATED 1:42 PM EST Feb 26, 2014

GREENSBURG, Ind. —Police in Greensburg are investigating a murder-suicide involving a father and his teenage son.

Greensburg is in Decatur County, about 40 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

Police say the father and son were found shot to death inside a car in a park.

Police began looking for 44-year-old Gregory Hall around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

It's not clear what prompted the search, but officers believed 14-year-old Tyler Hall was in danger.

An hour later, a phone call led police to the Greensburg City Park, where officers found the bodies.

“This is a very sad situation obviously, father-son like this, very tough for everybody to deal with involved,” said Det. Bill Meyerrose with the Greensburg Police Department.

Police are expected to release more information on this case Wednesday.

They say the son lived in Greensburg, and his father lived about a half-hour north in Rushville.
