Dad with "heart of gold" (?) murder 7-month-old daughter, seriously assaults his own mother during "supervised" visitation; where do reporters find these stupid people? (Oxford Township, Michigan)

You would think it would be self-evident, but apparently it is not to stupid people. "Great guys" with a "heart of gold" don't viciously murder 7-month-old babies then assault their own mothers bad enough to put them into critical condition. It is absolutely asinine that reporters continue to seek out these morons and focus their stories on a completely imaginary paradox. It just frames these murders as an unfathomable woo woo mystery when they really aren't at all.  The question is NOT this: Why did this wonderful man do this?

The question is: Why was a helpless infant put in supervised visitation with a dangerous father? What judge ordered this when there is NO EVIDENCE that infants benefit from overnight visitation with anybody? And if Dad was considered neglectful or potentially violent, why was he provided any visitation at all? If he's potentially violent, then doesn't that put the supervisor at risk?

There are a number of cases where children have been abducted, assaulted, or even killed during "supervised" visitation. It is not that hard for an obsessively violent father to find a way to harm his victims if any access if provided at all.

New information expected Monday in mysterious killing of Oxford Man, 7-month-old daughter

Daryne Gailey, 29, and his 7-month-old daughter were found dead inside Gailey's Oxford Township home Sunday. The child's death is ruled a homicide and it appears Gailey's neck was cut with a box cutter. His 65-year-old mother, who suffered lacerations to her arm, was also found in the home by police.

DETROIT, MI -- After holding off on a ruling, a representative for the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office on Friday said 29-year-old Daryne Gailey of Oxford Township died of homicide in November.

Oakland County sheriff's deputies, while performing a wellness check with Gailey's father, Andrew Gailey, found the man and his 7-month-old daughter, Charley Lillian, dead inside Daryne Gailey's home at 148 Kintyre Avenue the morning of Nov. 23.

Daryne Gailey died of "incised wounds to the neck," while his daughter died of blunt-force trauma, the autopsies found.

According to Daryne Gailey's obituary, his daughter died "close by his side."

Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe says deputies found Daryne Gailey in the bathroom. His mother, Sylvia Majewska, was also in the home, incoherent, lying on the couch with her arm cut and submerged in a pail of water, McCabe said.

Her injuries were listed as critical. McCabe on Friday said Majewska remains hospitalized but has been elevated to stable condition.

"That's pretty much all we're going to say," McCabe said Friday afternoon. "We're not going to have anything more to say until Monday on this case."

Investigators have yet to interview Majewska, the sole survivor, about what happened. She's retained an attorney since the incident, the Oakland Press reports.

A couple who live nearby -- they didn't want their names published -- said after the slaying Gailey picked up his daughter Nov. 21 and was supposed to return her to the mother in Tuscola County the following day.

Gailey's obituary lists his death as Nov. 21.

McCabe confirmed Gailey's ex-wife, Amanda Hendrick who lives in Tuscola County's Caro, had full custody of Gailey's daughter.

The court allowed Gailey overnight adult-supervised visits every other Friday. Gailey usually picked his mother up at her home in nearby Addison and they drove to Caro to retrieve the child and and returned her the following night.

The infant never returned on Nov. 22, prompting Hendrick to contact police. Oakland County sheriff's deputies stopped at the homes of Gailey and his mother, but saw no evidence anyone was inside either address.

Deputies went with Gailey's father to the house Nov. 23 and found the bodies and injured woman.

In the last year of Gailey's life, he married Amanda Hendrick, had a baby with her and then divorced.

According to court records obtained by the Detroit Free Press, a personal protection order was filed on Gailey's behalf against his ex-wife, but lifted in July.

Oakland County Clerk marriage records show the couple married in Tuscola County's Novesta during the fall of 2013. They filed for divorce in early March and an Oakland County judge finalized the divorce earlier this month.

A 23-year-old neighbor said Gailey's mother and father visited their son often to help him around the house.

He lived in the house alone with his dog, Gator. Oakland County property records show Gailey has owned the house since 2009.

The neighbor described Gailey as "a little slow," possibly with a learning disability, but "a great guy."

Gailey for the last 15 years has worked at as a clerk at Kroger in Lake Orion, a town just south of Oxford Township.

"He was a very happy-go-lucky guy, always had a smile on his face, always said hello to you, remembered every single customers' name," said Gailey's manager of five years, Jamie Babel after his death. "Everybody looked forward to saying hi to Daryne. He had a heart of gold."
