Dad pleads guilty to 2nd-degree murder in death of 2-year-old daughter; wanted to punish mom for leaving him (Tacoma, Washington)

Oh this poor mother. The father of her child is a crazy, volatile, manipulative a$$hole who immediately threatens suicide when she announces she is leaving him. He attempts to kill himself with a dog leash no less. She calls 911, but he is out of the psych hospital THE VERY NEXT DAY. Really? He's cured in 24 hours?

Too bad he wasn't successful. Though some might blame her for "allowing" him to babysit, she really had little choice. If she didn't "allow" his participation, it would have accelerated his anger and sense of entitlement. He no doubt would have gone to court and got COURT-ORDERED custody rights. Possibly even full custody. It's certainly happened before. Then she really would have been stripped over any control over the situation.

Dad is identified as SALVATOR SANCHEZ-OROZCO.

Tacoma father pleads guilty to squeezing his 2-year-old daughter to death

TACOMA — A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to killing his 2-year-old daughter last year by squeezing her to death in his Tacoma apartment.

Salvador Sanchez-Orozco pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge. He will be sentenced on Feb. 27.

“The defendant murdered a child he’s supposed to protect,” Pierce County prosecutor Mark Lindquist said. “This is domestic violence at its worst, killing a child to punish the mother.”

According to the prosecutors, in January 2014, Sanchez-Orozco became distraught because his wife wanted a separation. He attempted to hang himself with a dog leash, but his wife called 911. He was involuntarily committed to a mental hospital, but was released the next day.

The wife moved to her parents’ home in Graham with their daughter, and occasionally allowed Sanchez-Orozco to babysit their daughter.

On Feb. 11, 2014, Sanchez-Orozco drove to the home in Graham and became upset when he discovered a male friend of his wife there. His wife allowed Sanchez-Orozco to spend the day with their daughter.

He took her to his Tacoma apartment, sat the toddler on his lap, wrapped his arms around her and squeezed until she stopped breathing, police said. Then he called 911 and told the operator he had killed his daughter. He again wrapped a dog leash around his neck, but again failed to kill himself.

When deputies arrived, he had the leash around his neck and the 2-year-old girl was dead. He had written a suicide note saying he was going to kill himself and “take my daughter with me.”
