Dad arrested for beating 4-month-old son; who called for welfare check? (Decatur, Alabama)

First of all, there is no "appropriate" form of punishment for a 4-month old.

Second, notice that dad was arrested after somebody called the police for a welfare check. I highly suspect then that this was a custody/visitation situation. It is ABSURD for a baby to be subjected to any visitation, especially with a young and volatile father.

Dad is identified as CHARLES CLAYTON TERRY.

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Decatur police officers responded to a welfare check at around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday after Morgan County Central Dispatch received a call.

Officers found a four-month-old child suffering from bruises and cuts to his face and neck, and the injuries appeared to be intentional.

After the investigation, detectives found the child was being cared for by his father, 24-year-old Charles Clayton Terry, when the child was beaten beyond any appropriate form of punishment or discipline.

The beating was amounted to abuse as defined by the Alabama Criminal Code.

Terry was arrested for child abuse and booked into the Decatur City Jail and later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
